Bad Bayersoien a lakeside health and holiday resort, is situated in the so-called “Pfaffenwinkel” of the upper Bavarian prealpine region, not far from Oberammergau, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the castles of Linderhof and Neuschwanstein as well as Wieskirche.

The history of the brass band can be traced back to 1827. In 1984 the Bad Bayersoien Brass Band was awarded the prize “Pro musica” for making music for over 1oo years.In 2002 the band celebrated its 175th anniversary.

The amateur band consists of 39 musicians with an average age of 28 years. On demand they also play in smaller formations of about 10 musicians. The band is constantly increasing, particularly the number of girls participating – now 20 – who contribute essentially to the presentation of a very varied repertoire.

Fifteen young musicians are being trained and gain experience in various groups such as the “Noten-Chaoten” – the beginners – and “Jugendkapelle Ammertal” – the advanced group. Those enthusiastic about jazz can develop in a “Youth Big Band”.

Among the main tasks of the Brass Band are the weekly concerts, various local festivities and church festivals. They regularly take part in Bavarian march and concert competitions successfully and have accompanied various street and tent festivals in North Germany, Berlin, Austria and Switzerland. In 2004 the Brass Band took part in the famous Oktoberfest Parade in Munich. In 2006 they won the Bavarian/Bohemian brass music competition “Des is unser Musi” (This is our music) at the Schwaiganger Fair “Heimat und Brauchtum”.

Their highlights were the journeys to Cincinnati/ Ohio (partner town of Munich) in 1997 and to Pretoria, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town /South Africa in 2002 and 2012, where the band performed at an “Oktoberfest”. In 2000 the band was invited to the popular folk music TV programme “Musikantenstadl” and performed at the world exhibition Expo 2000 in Hanover.

The repertoire of the Bad Bayersoien Brass Band ranges from various concert programmes with Bavarian and Bohemian pieces of music to traditional and modern entertainment. On demand they offer traditional Bavarian shows (with songs and folk dance).

Current production : DVD with Blaskapelle Bad Bayersoien (from 2007) The Brass Band took part in TV programmes of different German TV channels. Beyond doubt the performances in Karl Moik’s “Musikantenstadl” in Munich (1999), Rostock (2000), Wels/Austria (New Year’s Eve 2000), I-Bozen (2005) and A-Dornbirn (2008) were their highlights.
